McDia Feliz 2009: 21 years of life

 

Coordinated by the Ronald McDonald, the McDia Feliz is the country's largest campaign in the fight against juvenile cancer, and be the main community event of the McDonald's system in Brazil.

In McDia Feliz, all the money raised from the sale of Big Macs (except some taxes), sold separately or included McOferta number 1 - as well as promotional materials shirts, caps, key chains, among other products - is channeled to supporting institutions and fighting cancer for children and youth across the country.

Over 20 years of campaign, the income obtained with the McHappy Day contributed to the significant growth cure rate of the disease in Brazil: in late 80 the average was 15%, currently reaches 85% if the cancer is diagnosed early and treated properly.

Created by McDonald's in Canada in 1977, McDia Feliz was first held in Brazil in 1988, in Sao Paulo. In 1989, arrived Rio de Janeiro, and, since 1990, has to be held at the national level involving all McDonald restaurants of the country.

To become a sponsor, companies must purchase shares of gifts, or Big Mac coupons and sell them to its employees, or local community, channeling the amount received for the campaign.

In 2009 Osborn International Ltda. Brazil sponsored program, buying 200 T-shirts, presenting their employees with 85 T-shirts and 85 Big Mac vouchers, and donating the rest to the project.

Further work was undertaken to encourage volunteering. The group of volunteers was composed of 6 employees, who assisted in the sale of products in McDonald's Vergueiro in Sao Bernardo do Campo.

The event that took place last August 29th , began at 09:00 and ended around 21:00. The volunteers were divided pairs so contribute throughout the period.
